Week 31-Denim

Denim. The word alone conjures up visions of comfy jeans and cool, breezy blouses to go with it. I knew that lots of people would do jeans. And I was tempted to do so myself. I did not have any cool denim dresses or jackets that I could think of and no one would fault me if I just wore a nice pair of jeans and nothing else. (yes, I know YOU would never fault me for that, my precious V!)

But when I was looking through all the things that I have gotten in my inventory in the last few days I came across this beautiful flowing dress from one of the Paris Metro branches (it was free to top it off!) and I knew that would be it. I even believed that it had denim in its’ name for some reason. Maybe that was because of the stitching across the front and back panel of the dress, I’m not sure. But I really fell in love with it. And nothing else would do once I tried it on. If you are not familiar with Paris Metro you should really take the time to visit ALL of their branches. They usually have a free gift at one or more of them on a regular basis…and their freebies are REALLY nice not the “riff raff” that you sometimes see offered as a freebie. I got SEVERAL really nice summer dresses from them. And their gowns are really quite stunning!

I had already pretty much decided that I wanted to wear blonde hair with this beautiful blue dress, so I began to look through my inventory for a peachy skin with pink, kissable lips. The tattoo layers have made that SOOO easy nowadays! All you have to do it find the skin you like…and put the tattoo layer lip color on that you want….and hope that it matches! How many times have you found that skin that you just CANNOT do without, but the lips are the wrong color? So you look through your nifty inventory of tattoo makeups and find a color that is PERFECT for your outfit, only to try it on and find out that it either OVER powers your skin, giving you “duck lips” that you never wanted or UNDER powers your skin….leaving a GLARING line of the original color outlining the color you want!?

I was trying on different skins worried that I would have to try to match a lipcolor to one…when this one came along from Essences…and was JUST what I was looking for! No adjustments required

For hair I wanted something that was a TAD bit unusual, but soft and feminine at the same time. I tried on several other hairs that came to mind and then I remembered this one piece that I had picked up from Ava-Tare on their 60L weekend sales. It too, seemed to be a perfect match.

Jewelry was easy and hard at the same time. Finesmith Designs are always my first choice when wanting elegant or unusual jewelry, so it was a no brainer as to what jeweler I would use, but Finesmith’s just has so many BEAUTIFUL pieces to choose from that making a decision can be difficult at times. I initially planned on using pieces from her Blossom collection. They are really amazing, having a neckpiece, earrings, tiara AND a face attachment….that really FITS! There is even an all white ensemble JUST for brides….so all you summer brides check it out!

But after some debate, I decided to use these pieces that were given out as a free gift to the Finesmith Design’s group for Mother’s day, with the bracelet being an additional piece from another Finesmith collection. She has many pieces that have a summery and/or tropical feel to them, making them a wonderful finishing piece for your wardrobe. Also….if you have not heard or are not aware, this is the “last call” for “Finesmith Muse 2012” YOU could be the face they are looking for as an inspiration for their next collection! Take a look at their blog for more details! And if any of you have read my blog before, then you KNOW that Finesmith is my FAVORITE place to go for nails. They do not specialize in nails, but they come out with specialty lines quite frequently and just ONE purchase of their color change nails can give you ALL the different looks and colors you would ever need! They have a really elegant feel, not short at ALL, but not too long either. And of course, they all have beautiful Finesmith rings attached to them and if you get the ones with a color change menu, you can change the rings and gems as well!

I could not decide what shoes to wear with my “denim” (NOT) dress…and then I remembered these really cute little strappy sandals from Serina Lacava Creations. They have color change roses on them and can be changed to either black, white or red.

Throw in some awesome poses by .:Stance:….and there you have it! My take on “Denim” for week 31 of Luna Jubillee’s 52 weeks of color challenge. Stay tuned for next week when the challenge will be…..Jade! Until then…be challenged!
