Week 17 – Electric Lime!!!!

Posted By on February 28, 2011 in 52 weeks of color, All | 4 comments

OK….I have to admit, I was a little worried when I saw this week’s color challenge…ELECTRIC LIME! Lime in and of itself would have been hard enough….but no…it had to be ELECTRIFIED! Then I took a look at the color swatch…and a smile came across my face. I remember a time when we called “Electric Lime”…..Chartreuse! Yes…I am THAT old!!…and chartreuse was my favorite color for a while. Not very long…probably due to the fact that it was almost impossible to find! And honestly, I am not so sure I really loved the color as much as I loved the way it sounded when I said it! There was just something about…..chartreuse….that was sexy! Later on my favorite color gave way to “Dusty Rose”….and that was not NEAR as sexy, but was much easier to find. And then when I got older I found out that if the dusty rose…was dusty enough…and red enough to be kinda purply…that it could be transformed into AUBERGINE! And that was WAY more sexy!

Anyway…as I hit my inventory and began to go thru it one outfit at a time….TRYING to PRETEND that some of it MIGHT be Electric Lime, I began to be very worried! Almost half the week had past and I still had nothing that I could really pass off as Electric Lime. So what did I do, you ask? Well I did what any good bargain hunter in a pinch would do…I hit up the Fab Free Headquarters! I had heard that it had moved and had gotten all new stuff, so I thought that might be a good thing…since god KNEW I had ALL the stuff from their other place.

So after a quick search for a Landmark, I headed off to the new Fabulously Free in SL Headquarters. It was true…they DID have all new stuff…and I TOLD myself that I was only going to get the stuff that had pictures of the merchandise on it..to try and keep my inventory from blowing a virtual gasket every time I ask it to load! But each time I would come to a box that had nothing but the store name on it…I just kept asking that age old question…..”What if????” And so I finally decided to just give in and quit pretending that I was not going to grab everything that was in the store. And grab I did! And guess what???? Hiding in a little unsuspecting box was the cutest little ELECTRIC lime green dress I had seen…along with several others, from Badoura Designs! Thank GOODNESS I took EVERYTHING I could find from the Fab Free headquarters! Whew!

Once I found the perfect dress, I remembered a new skin that I had just bought from Style by Kira. I have just recently become aware of her skins. She participates in lots of the weekly sales and several different hunts and always has a skin on sale somewhere. And her stuff is REALLY nice. I am wearing one of her skins in my current SL Profile picture. And I knew just the perfect one for this little dress.

Next was hair…I wanted an “updo”…but something that was cute and not too stuffy….maybe a pony to the side??? And I ran across this hairstyle from Exile that I had gotten a while back. It was perfect for the look I wanted.

Next were shoes….and some of my FAVORITE gold shoes are my Stiletto Moody‘s! They are from her old line…but they are still some of my favorites…and I knew they would be exactly what I was looking for.

Next was jewelry. I had a feeling that really nice jewelry was going to be kinda hard to find in Electric Lime! I was thinking about all the stuff I have in my inventory when I remembered a set that I had just bought in the 60L Sunday Sale. It was from Maggs & Compton Design. I have bought several pieces from them…and have been really pleased. Most of their stuff is color change…both the metal and the gems…and so you can wear just one piece with many different colored outfits! But this piece just had a necklace and earrings…no bracelet. SO I began to think about what Bracelet I would piece with it…and of course, there was my bracelet from Finesmith Designs! Pair it up with Finesmith Nails and one of their new handbags and I was ready to go! And I cannot end this post without saying that I picked eyes from my FAVORITE eye maker in SL.  These eyes matched SO perfectly that I almost took pictures of them alone and called it a day!  They came from Ibanez Eyes….and in my opinion are some of the best in SL!  I threw on some lashes from Redgrave‘s and out the door I went.

When I very first starting taking photos and decided I wanted to post them to flickr…I was taking most of my pics at my favorite free photography place…and I was fairly certain that they would have enough backgrounds that I would never have to go anywhere else. Of course, I did have to deal with other avi’s being there…and not being able to get the particular spot I wanted…or FINALLY getting the one I wanted and then know that another avi was waiting for me to leave so they could shoot. And then I thought to myself that there is CERTAINLY no shortage of beautiful or exciting places to go in SL. It was just a matter of finding them. So finding what I think will be just the “right” place in which to shoot my photos can be somewhat of a challenge. You can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon [XIV], Dignity! I went there and looked around for quite some while exploring all the different aspects of the sim…and thinking of just what pictures I wanted to take. I left there convinced that I had found the perfect spot and returned a few days later to find that they had moved. I was heartbroken! I was already WAY behind on this one…and now…to have to find a new place to shoot….I was certain that there was no way that the owner could have recreated such a beautiful sim in such a short period of time. SO reluctantly, I went to check out the new location…and to my surprise, not only was it AS good…it was better!

“Time will tell”, as it is now known, is based on the concept of time and how we as individuals react and interact with time. You can read all about the creators concept here. I found this particularly intriguing…as V and I have this ongoing discussion about time. He insists that it is my friend. I on the other hand (being older and wiser) am not so sure about that…and often feel that “she” is at odds with me…as though we have an old score to settle…and I KNOW who will win that battle! I was quite pleased to go into the “Time Orb” and just sit there and read all the different quotes that swirled above my head and look at the quotes in the room…one of which was even from the creator herself.

In addition to the Time Orb of [XIV] she has also added some beautifully colored areas along the pathway, an art gallery and a mini cafe bar…for people to gather and chat. The secret garden area has also had a few things added to it, enhancing [XIV], Time Will Tell— making it a true treat to visit! If it has been a while since you have been to [XIV] or if you have never been there, please stop by, enjoy the creations…and spend some “time” in the “time” orb thinking about “time” and if you figure out if “she” is on our side or against us, drop me a line and let me know…;)

I am looking forward to this next weeks color challenge….Ecru! Until next week….be challenged!
