Mahogany – Lessons from Diana Ross

Way way way WAYYYY back when EL was a TEENY TINY little girl….(Giggles) she heard a song by Diana Ross called “Mahogany”. I never saw the movie/musical. It was kinda not the right time period for me to want to see such a thing, being so young and all…but I remember the song to the movie…and I must admit, I was never too impressed by it. (Sorry Miss Ross…I know you are an AVID reader of my Blog! Just chalk it up to it being “before my time” and the ignorance of youth!)

I can vaguely remember the lyrics and thinking how sad it was that a woman of HER age was STILL having to question herself; what she was doing…where she was going. I remember thinking what a sad state of affairs that was…that she should be an adult and have ALL the answers and yet here she was with all those unanswered questions!

Well now…looking back on it all…and being somewhat older than she was when she recorded the song, I can FULLY understand why she still had all those questions. It seems like the older I get the less I know! And the really sad thing about it, is that I keep making the same mistakes over and over again! I am hoping that I get to live to the age where Betty White will star in a musical declaring that she NOW knows it all….and no longer does the same dumb things over and over! Perhaps it should be called “Neon Carrot”? I think that would be a good title!

In any case, MY Mahogany came together pretty easy. This was actually a promotional copy that was given to me by Azoury’s about 2 ½ months ago. When I got it and tried it on I was SOOOO excited. It had not been released yet and I was SOOO excited to blog it…even put it together and took a few pics of it but was not pleased with them. I could not come up with a background that I liked and did not have time to explore and come up with one, as I was leaving to the States for a 3 week “vacation”…so this design kinda got put on the back burner at that time. I am SO glad that I was able to bring it out for Mahogany.

The pants for this outfit are SO unusual and I just LOVE them. Every time I wear them I have this uncontrollable urge to ask V if they make my butt look big, but I know what he would say….hahaha. They remind me of an updated riding pant and my pics just do not do them justice. They are a tight legged pant all the way down and with brass brads along the sides of the upper attachments. The upper attachment of the pant is off centered and surrounds your waist like the opening of a precious flower.

The simple bandeau top is sheer to the point of being see through. So if you are uncomfortable with that you might want to wear an under bra, or some type of pastie that will hide your nipple. But with this color scheme it does a good job of “blending in “ with your naked body and I must admit, I felt INCREDIBLY sensual wearing it!

The shoes are also from Azoury and come with a color change HUD to match your skin perfectly. They come in several colors and the ruffling around the top of the shoe give them a decidedly feminine feel.

The necklace, earrings, nails and rings are all by Finesmith Designs. The necklace was perfect for this outfit. I wanted something simple, something that would not take away from the clothes, but something that still said “Look at me!” and when I tried this on I knew that would be it. It has a long chain that drapes down the back of the neck ending with a piece that matches the earrings. Absolutely lovely and elegant!

My hair was a group gift from Mach and is really adorable. Unfortunately, Mach is no longer in business and I have no idea if they plan on re opening. I am really grateful to have picked up this cute piece before they left!

I matched the outfit with skin from Candy Doll, eyes from Fashism, Lashes from Redgrave and Lipstain from M.O.C.K.(She has the BEST lip makeups I have tried on the grid!!!)

The Sim that I visited to take these pics is called “Cap Estel Goes Safari” and it is really lovely. There are many Safari type animals along with a cool Zip wire ride that goes from the upper level to the lower level. I took a boatload of pics there and loved EACH one of them. It was hard to pic out just a few that I was pleased with, but in the end, I narrowed it down to 5 or so. If you would like to see the rest of the pics be sure and visit my flickr photostream.

All poses are by .:Stance:. If you have not been by their store be sure and visit and pick up the latest group gift. It is the suitcase set that I blogged last week and is REALLY a gem!

So that’s Mahogany for this week! Be sure and drop by next week when the color will be Mauve! Until then….be challenged!
