This week’s post comes to you from a V and El that are temporarily separated by many miles in RL but onscreen together in the virtual world. I have had to make a personal trip back to the States and will be gone for almost 3 weeks. SO…if the post this week seems like it is fragmented and doesn’t make much sense it may be because it IS fragmented, being written over several days and several different locations at many different times! [Edited by V: El doesn’t make much sense other times as well…]
As you can see, V came up with another idea for our photo shoot. And given all that has been going on in my world for the last few days, I was only too willing to let him do that. So when I found out he was at Bare Rose looking for something for me I was SOOO excited. “But baby…I already have a dress…remember, I told you I was going to wear that yellow one I got at that one store?” “Yes, I know” he says “So what are you buying for ME at Bare Rose?” I asked, trying not to sound too over excited. “A purse…a handbag.” “A handbag???? Oh wow. I don’t think I have ever used a handbag in a shoot before. What color is it?” “Green.” “Green? Oh wow…I have to find the perfect shoes for it!” And off I went trying on different shoes and was SOOOO excited when I saw the bag. It was REALLY nice and REALLY cute. I might not have been so excited had I known that it would involve me rummaging thru the bag with a “Banana” in my mouth and a gun in my hand….but he conveniently left those little details out! [Edited by V: She didn’t ask either. All it takes is “handbag” and her mind is in her shoes.]
When I checked into Luna Jubilee’s 52WOCC…it said that the challenge this week would be “Banana Mania”…and was open to interpretation. You should never say “Banana” and “photoshoot” to a man. “Visions of sugar plums” start to dance in their heads…:/ [Edited by V: WTF?]
Anyway…I got a GREAT bag…and some cute pics, so I guess I have nothing to complain about.
This weeks challenge of “Banana Mania” left me with the impression that it needed to be some shade of yellow. The color chip on the post looked like a vanilla cream color to me…but it SAID “Banana” and that it was open to interpretation. So I began to look through my inventory and thru my sale ads to check for something yellowish.
One of my favorite blogs that I turn to FREQUENTLY for good buys and bargains is “The Vinyl Cafe.” Not only do they advertise their own group gifts and daily dollarbies, they also feature great buys and finds that they run across thru the week. This week she featured a designer that I was not familiar with. The name was !!KKBB!! (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) by Delia Linette and featured several CUTE little dresses for 5L or so.
I immediately took a taxi over to the shop and found it to be relatively small as shops go, but it had some REALLY cute dresses…in many different colors/textures to choose from…and nothing was over 10L. That even included the shapes, skins, and shoes that they had upstairs. I was in heaven! And pretty much bought one of everything in the store! As I went through the dresses, I found that most of them were fairly simple, but REALLY well made…good textures….fit well…and I began to notice that the designer would include little notecards in her box explaining WHY she made a skirt prim a certain way….or telling you that the top to the outfit could be tinted to any color you like!!!!! I could tell that not only did she love what she was doing….she actually wore these clothes herself! Sometimes I try on a relatively inexpensive item from a designer and I often wonder if they ever tried it on themselves…or if THEY would wear it! You could tell Delia did. If you have not stopped by her shop, please do so…and check out her blog here…to keep up with all the latest releases.
When I found out that V was going to buy me a green bag, I immediately started thinking of shoes that I thought might go with it, yet still look good with this soft yellow dress….and my mind thought of a pair of pumps that I had picked up on sale at Kennedy’s! EACH piece of the shoe is color change, so not only can you make them bicolor….you can change the color of the heel, the sole and the trim on the side, making the color combinations endless! I was SO pleased that I had gotten them. They were just what I needed for this dress.
When I began to think of skins…I wanted something “sassy”…something cute but did not look like a 12 year old. This skin from B[u]Y Me, fit the bill. I LOVE the freckles on this skin. I am not much into freckles, but for some reason this skin REALLY attracted me. Plus the luscious red lips and the little tattoo at the side of the left eye let you know that she was NOT a 12 year old!
I wanted the hair to be short and “sassy” as well…and I remembered a short hair that I had picked up at Vignette for free. If you are not familiar with Vignette or In Her Shoes….you need to be. I found some REALLY nice hair there….AND some great shoes….ALLLLLL free. Plus, the designer is REALLY nice. So be sure to stop by her store, drop something in her donation box and if you see her, tell her “El says hi”.
I knew right away what jewelry I wanted to wear with this piece. Maeve Mortlock, the owner of Ear Candy advertises her jewelry as jewelry you would wear in everyday life and it really is. When I see her stuff it is the kind of jewelry that I would wear in RL. It is really well made, cute, there is lots of variety and it is reasonably priced! The only problem I had was going thru ALL the stuff I have in her inventory to find just the right pieces! I ultimately ended up with a longer necklace and earring set with a cluster of silver baubles on the end of it with an adorable matching cuff/bangle combo bracelet.
As usual, I topped my outfit off with lashes from Redgrave and nails (with attached rings) from Finesmith Design, their nails just fit so perfectly with everything!
It is hard to go thru V’s wardrobe since we are so far apart, but I know the skin, shirt and tie and kneeling poses he made himself and can be found here on the TGIB website. His shoes are Redgrave, but the rest I am not too sure about. I am terrible I know…LOL All I know is he looks good and I love him with all my heart….that is all I need to know. If you have any questions about where he got some part of his outfit, be sure and ask..and I am sure he can tell you…:) [Edit by V: I only made the skin and pose, the shirt and tie is part of the whole outfit, which is “Eric” by BareRose Tokyo. Shoes are Redgrave, the hair is a freebie from Kin, which I used my own hair textures with.]
Things are crazy for the next couple of weeks as I try to manage my RL going NUTS in another country….while still keeping in touch with all things at “home” AND manage a virtual world….whew. My hats off to you people that seem to do this SO well with so many challenges. I can only hope that I can play “catch up” when I get home! I will add pics to my flickr photostream as I get them done…but as I said…it could be a while. For right now, I am just concentrating on doing what I came here to do and getting home to my precious husband once again.
My mind almost went into “OVERLOAD” when I saw next weeks challenge…it is….ASPARAGUS! ….OH MY….:/ Why is the 52wocc starting to make me hungry? [Edit by V: Am I the only one to notice that these colour themes are getting more and more phallic?]
