What Valentine’s Day would be complete without lots of pink, white and RED!? So you can imagine my delight when I saw that this week’s color challenge was none other than…red! I had already picked up a little dress from one of Siss Boom‘s daily specials ((Lestat Reuven has a “daily” special that consists of 2 or more of her lovely creations that normally sell for 395L+f or just 100L!)) that was just what I was looking for! Her stuff ALWAYS catches my eye, but the hat that came with this dress was magical! And all I could think of was the pretty pictures that it would make!
Of course, red is one of those colors like black…that I tend to have a lot of in my inventory. And so many designers had been putting out such CUTE stuff in red for Valentine’s Day. I immediately thought of doing 2 different designs like I had with black, but before I could decide on another look, the idea of playing around with Kirsten’s viewer came to mind.
So many of you take such BEAUTIFUL pictures with her viewer…and I have to admit…I am jealous. <giggles> So when I got my brand new Macbook Pro up and running, my partner and I decided to take a look and see if Kirsten’s viewer would work with my laptop’s graphics card. Much to my surprise it does! My older Mac that I LOVE would just not work with it, but this new one, would indeed render, the holy grail of SL photography….shadows!!!! It DOES slow my notebook down to a crawl most of the time, so I am not sure if I could use it to do everyday shopping and such, I may still have to mess with the settings a little to see, but I have to admit…even though it took a little longer, I was QUITE pleased with the results. Please feel free to head on over to my Flickr photostream and take a look at this weeks “collection” in red, and let me know what you think. I am BRAND NEW to all this and would love any suggestions on ways to improve or make things better/easier
So once I decided on what outfit to use I had to decide on just the right skin. I wanted something that looked sweet and innocent and I was reminded of one of the skins that I had picked up at Siss Boom that I was particularly impressed with. It came with or without dimples…and these dimples REALLY looked like dimples, giving it a sweet, innocent appearance. Once I tried it on I remembered that I had also picked up a makeup set that she had on sale that week to go with the skin. It was also a sweet makeup that just barely tinted the lips and gave the skin that slightly red appearance of having been out in the sun just a tad too long. Siss Boom does not currently have many skins…and I do not know if they intend to increase their skin line, but the ones that I have tried from there are excellent and am glad to have in my inventory.
Once I had a dress and skin I needed shoes to compliment it of course and I remembered a pair of pumps that I had bought at SLC that contained a HUD allowing you to change the color of the shoe and the ties that came with them. I felt like they could do the dress justice.
When I am trying to put a “sweet and innocent” look together, one of the first places I think of for hair is D!va. Her hair is always wispy and usually pulled back or to the side with lots of little tendrils floating around. This particular piece also has a hair tie with accompanying HUD to change the color of the tie and/or the metal of the tie, or to allow you to get rid of the tie all together. It was perfect!
Not much jewelry was needed for this piece, but the roses in the skirt caught my attention and I happened to think of a set I have from Ear Candy that has roses in it. I only used the earrings and one bracelet from the set, but if you have time you should really stop by and see the necklace that matches it, along with the other items from her store. Everything there is REASONABLY priced and of very good quality, making it one of my favorite places from which to purchase jewelry.
Last, but NOT least are nails! This set I had picked up from Logo and Kin BEFORE it was Logo and Kin…;) I went by their new shop to make sure that the nails were still available before I blogged about them…and sure enough, I found them. They are some of my FAVORITE nails! The shape and size are really perfect and you can get several different styles, each one giving you many different color choices.
Before I started taking pictures I put on some lashes from Redgrave….and there you have it….El in red! If you are not familiar with Luna Jubilee’s 52 weeks of color challenge please take the time to drop by her blog and give it a read. Until next week…take up the challenge!

Great pictures!
My puter crawls at Kirstens to when I try to take pictures.=(
I do like her viewer though, it is simple and easy to use.
Appreciate your input Laila! Thanks for taking a look. Even if Kirstens DOES slow me to a crawl…I was really pleased with the shadows…and think I will be using it again.
