The Dance

She was finally able to go to sleep!  Of course, her dreams were of him.  And when she woke, her thoughts were of him.  She had gone to sleep thinking of him.  And she began to wonder, would there ever be day in her life again, that she did not think of him before sleeping and again upon rising?  How was it possible that one man could change your life so?  And then she remembered, it was really not so different.  She had ALWAYS thought of him thusly, she just had not known his name.  He was a nameless, faceless apparition….VANISH.  She laughed as she thought about it, because it did seem as though he wove in and out of her dreams and psyche and would just vanish.  She would feel him SO close and yet SO far.  There was not ONE aspect of her life that had not been touched by him…..and now it was no longer her life, but THEIR life.

She smiled as she thought of the way he had held her while they danced, all the things he had said to her, and how they laughed.  It seemed like their time together always varied between silliness and passion…and she closed her eyes as she imagined them frolicking thru the garden, laughing and running, playing with the animals, playing with each other, until at last they could stand it no more and ended up in each other’s arms…always each other’s arms.    It had always been so with them.   It was as though their life was a dance…moving and weaving…finding rhythm…feeling the beat.  They were always close, never far away…their bodies and minds entwined…always hearing the same things, seeing the same things, feeling the same things.

May the dance never end…May it always be so, mein Koenig….

Forever your wife…D

    Before the leaves have fallen,
    Before we lock the doors
There must be the third and last dance
    This one will last forever
    Metropolis watches and thoughtfully smiles
She’s bringing you to your home
    It can only take place
When the struggle between our children’s ended
Now the Miracle and the Sleeper know
    That the third is love
Love is the dance of eternity.
